As our industry emerges from an economy which has been described as the worst since the great depression, we find ourselves walking a fine line between embracing our father’s traditions and welcoming inevitable change. Education plays a key role as we move forward both personally and as an industry. It is imperative each of us accepts the role as spokesperson to jointly voice a strong message to our legislator’s of the importance of manufacturing to a healthy and vibrant economy. It is also vitally important to inform the public, students, and youth of what we do and how the products we manufacture are used in their daily lives. We need to educate and excite our youth about our industry so that one day they will seek a career in a strong and vibrant Foundry Industry,
Finally, I challenge all current AFS members to encourage other individuals and businesses to become involved in AFS and participate in all the resources it has to offer.
